    Within the village of Brownstown, ten miles above Charleston and just below the mouth of Lens creek, is another such burying ground.  Some time ago two skeletons were found together here, one of a huge framed about seven feet in length and the other that of a deformed dwarf about four feet in length.

"The Syrians knew Orion as Gabbara; the Arabians as Al Jabbar, both signifying 'the Giant', Gigas, giant, Greek titil for Orion with Ptolemy, - and in Latin days occasionaly Gigas.  Our words giant and gigantic, and the word giga (prefix meaning a billion) comefrom Latin gagas, Greek gigas.  Orion is referred to as 'earthborn' because the gods Zeus, hermes and {Poseidon urinated into a bull's hide and buried it in earth.  In Greek mythology the gigantes were (according to the poet Hesoid) the children of Uranos and Gaea (the Haven and the Earth). The prefix gi - of 'giant[, is believed to come from Gaia, or Gaea, meaning the earth, Gaa-antis. Is it any wonder that a large skeleton was unearthed at this site.

The bird is believed to represent the transition of the soul from this world to the next. Orion's Belt was also seen as a bird by the Lakota Sioux. There is plenty of precedent for number three in conjunction with Orion. The Adena (Alligewi) most often constructed their burial mounds in groups of three. The number three having some dynamic in this transition of the souls. At Fort Hill, there were 33 gateways and at the Serpent Mound the body bends three times, the coil of the tail circles three times and the Serpent itself points to the confluence of three creeks.
